Aromatic Fusions
AROMATIC FUSIONS are a zenith of some deep passions of mine; Aromatic, simple food that is fresh and soulful Growing my own herbs and vegetables Aromatherapy The study of Aromatherapy and the development of my own sense of smell has been a powerful journey for me. I realised I was working with extracts of plants in both my cooking and the aromas I loved to create in my work with essential oils. Working with the oils made me feel centered, grounded and calm. Smelling the oils I was studying made me want to pick the matching herb or citrus from the garden or source herbs and spices from fresh markets. Beautiful aromatic food, cooked slowly so the aromas are released, is just what my soul needs to retreat from a fast paced world. The spices always satisfy my taste buds and helps to resist all the convenient boxed food available in supermarkets. AROMATIC FUSIONS bottles are packaged in attractive origami style wrapping and include an envelope containing a recipe that matches the blend. AROMATIC FUSIONS essential oils blends are all about creating an ambient environment. Mediterranean Blend The Mediterranean blend is a celebration of the charming McLaren Vale region that I live in. The love of this enchanting region started when I was only 8 years old and my family opened a catering business located in Hardy's winery, McLaren Vale. I spent much time roaming the area and watching my wonderful parents meticulously prepare beautiful fresh food for many weddings and other celebrations. I moved to the city of Adelaide when I was 16, and then interstate to live in very large, cosmopolitan cities and travel the world. During that time away I missed the beauty of the Fleurieu Peninsula, especially the food and lifestyle. Throughout the region one can easily spot rosemary and lavender bushes used as decorative hedging in many gardens. Basil, mint and thyme are growing abundantly and are used to flavour many famous regional dishes. Citrus trees do very well and beautiful lemons are readily shared amongst friends and can be bought fresh from growers selling their produce at the Willunga Farmers Market. All these essential oil fragrances plus more have been combined in the Mediterranean blend. Recipe to Match Mediterranean Blend Lemon and Olive Oil Cake Ingredients 3 eggs, 2 ½ cups sugar, 185ml cup of olive oil, 2 cups milk, juice and zest of 3 lemons, 300gm self-raising flour, ½ tsp bicarb soda, pinch salt, flaked almonds, freshly whipped cream, finely chopped basil. Preheat oven to 170°C. Grease and line 22cm spring-form pan. Cream eggs and sugar with electric mixer until pale. Whisk in olive oil, milk, zest and juice and combine well.
